Embark is an outdoor recreation program for young women who have been relocated to Utah due to conflict in their country of origin. We facilitate hiking, rock climbing, camping, and mountain skills education in a constructive environment.
The outdoors is a space we all share, no matter where we come from. At Embark we believe that understanding how to engage with the outdoors helps bridge cultural gaps. Combined with confidence-building activities, Embark participants can face new challenges with fortitude as they continue on their greater journey of building a life in the United States.
Part of our mission is to provide an introduction to fitness and athletics, without the social pressures found in high school team sports. By teaching mountain skills as well as fitness programs, we reconstruct the way our girls see themselves both athletically and as leaders.
